Delete Your Account

You can delete your Slate Mate account and everything in it from inside the app, without contacting anyone and without any waiting period.

Steps

1. Open Slate Mate and make sure you are signed in.
2. Tap the settings cog in the top-right corner of any tab.
3. Scroll to the bottom of Settings.
4. Tap Delete account.
5. Confirm when asked. The deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.

What gets deleted

Permanently and immediately:

• Your account and sign-in credentials
• Your display name, profile photo, and friend code
• Your entire watched history — every rating, review, gut take, reaction tag, and watched date
• Your personal and group watch list entries, and any popcorn/tomato votes you cast
• Your friendships and any pending friend requests
• Your memberships in every group

What happens to groups you own

A group you own is not deleted out from under its other members. Ownership is handed to the longest-standing remaining member, and the group carries on without you. If you were the only member left, the group is deleted along with your account.

Note that entries you had tagged to a group are deleted with your account, so they will no longer appear in that group’s activity or statistics.

Backups

Encrypted backups held by our hosting provider may retain deleted data for up to 30 days before they are overwritten in the normal rotation. Those backups are not accessible from the app and are not used to restore an account you deleted.

If you cannot access the app

If you have lost access to your account and cannot delete it yourself, email slatemate.app.legal@gmail.com from the address on the account and ask for deletion. We will verify the request and complete it within 30 days.

Just want to share less?

You do not have to delete everything to reduce what others can see:

• Settings → Privacy hides your watched history and watch list from friends.
• Swipe a friend away on the Friends screen to end their access.
• Swipe a group away on the Groups screen to leave it.
• Swipe an individual entry away to delete just that one.
